We\u2019re introducing a new feature that lets you freeze the modification date of any post, page, or custom post type when saving<\/strong>.<\/p>

This means you can update your content without WordPress automatically changing the modification date\u2014a crucial benefit for SEO, as this date is used in the XML sitemap and in meta tags like article:modified_time<\/code> and og:updated_time<\/code>.<\/p>

Google and other search engines recommend not updating this date for minor content changes. Doing so also helps reduce your crawl budget.<\/p>

To enable this option, go to the SEO metabox<\/strong>, under the Advanced<\/strong> tab.<\/p>
