Google will also drop reporting on it within Google Search Console and the respective APIs in the future.

Google wrote a note on the top of the FAQ structured data page about this, saying the following three points:

(1) As of May 7, 2026, FAQ rich results are no longer appearing in Google Search.

(2) Google will be dropping the FAQ search appearance, rich result report, and support in the Rich results test in June 2026 from Google Search Console.

(3) To allow time for adjusting your API calls, support for the FAQ rich result in the Search Console API will be removed in August 2026.

Google launched FAQ rich results in 2019, it has been around for several years. It should not surprise many that Google removed support for this structured data, I mean, Google constantly removes support for rich results over time. But with FAQs, in 2023, Google said it would show it less often. And now it will not show them going forward.

Here is what John Mueller of Google had to say about this on Bluesky:

It was only used for a tiny set of site types (as documented), so for most, this doesn’t result in changes in Search. If a site had the markup & wasn’t one of those types, it was already being ignored. No need to change anything, but if you did it for search, you can remove the markup if you want.

It was only used for a tiny set of site types (as documented), so for most, this doesn’t result in changes in Search.
