Google Ads is rolling out asset group theming for Performance Max campaigns. This lets you copy an asset group and apply this theme to your text and images using Google AI.

Asset group theming in Performance Max allows you to quickly create seasonal, holiday, or stylistic variations of your existing ad creatives.

When you apply a theme to a copy of a high-performing asset group, you can generate new, relevant images and text assets with just a few clicks. This helps you efficiently scale campaigns for key moments without altering your original asset group. Learn more About generative images in Google Ads.

This update was spotted by Bia Camargo who posted about it on LinkedIn and wrote, “You can take a high-performing asset group, clone it, and instantly apply a theme like Easter, Valentine’s Day, Back to School or a sale. Google then generates themed image variations, suggests headlines and descriptions aligned to the moment and keeps your original asset group untouched so you can test safely.
